Kerala - Day 6

We learned how to make a taila (infused oil) today! After a short lecture, we went over to Karuna Vaidya's place (the medicine man in the house out back) and made a taila together. He is a very sweet man and really good at what he does. These are qualities you want the man making your medicines to have. We tasted amla (amalaki) fruit fresh (Monica and I tried dried amla the day before), sampled some pinda taila, and got another taste of his amazing chyawanprash before we left.

Next, we had a little cooking class with Dr. Asghar's wife at their home a few doors down from the center. We made khichadi and and a coconut milk dessert. After lunch, we practiced Abhyanga at the beach hut. We took turns being the body, so I got another oil massage! After dinner, a few of us took a short shopping trip to Mahe, closest shopping area (a Rs. 30 tuk-tuk ride), and I bought some bindis. (Trying to limit myself to items that don't take up much space.)

Yoga tomorrow morning and an engagement party in the afternoon!
