A Day to Myself

Got back from the spa a little while ago. Went to The Sanctuary Spa, not to be confused with the brothel the concierge sent us to yesterday. That was an experience. I had a 60 min aromatherapy facial and a 60 min Balinese massage. The whole thing cost me about $70. Neither was spectacular. Are facials supposed to hurt? I asked for more pressure during my massage and didn't really get it and when my eyes were tearing during my facial I was thinking, "Now he decides to put some muscle in it!" Michelle got a massage there yesterday and said it was really great. The spa itself is really nice. Tara's aunt did the interior design. I took some pics with my phone.

Had some really great food last night at The Palmyrah Restaurant. They serve Jaffna style food - closest to what we eat at home. Milk hoppers, pittu, crab curry, rasam...it was all really good. It's weird being able to order that stuff at a restaurant. Have to go back again before I leave. Here are some pics of Lucas, my date last night. He passed out shortly after these were taken...

Before dinner I went to an art opening with one of my mom's friend's, Aunty Sarla. I got to meet Senaka Senanayake, a well-known Sri Lankan artist. His brother-in-law is also Dinasha and Anjali's uncle. (Very small island.) We have one of his paintings hanging in our entry way at home. Aunty Sarla said she would take us to his studio some time. I'm hoping to buy something, but as my mom gently reminded me -- art isn't very high on my list of things to spend money on at the moment, so we shall see...
