On our way to Galle, we stopped to watch some fisherman pull in their net. There were a lot of people waiting to buy fish straight from the net and on the road there were stalls where they sold the fresh catch. In the first pic you can see the ray they caught (near the top). There was some excitement when that was pulled out. A delicacy? One guy tried to removed the stinger and got cut pretty badly. I have that on video.

We spoke to four fishermen and they told us their tsunami stories. The guy in the red checked shirt was riding his tuk-tuk (three wheeled car) when the tsunami hit. He grabbed on to the top of a coconut tree (20-30 feet tall?) and his tuk-tuk was found about a mile inland. They were really nice guys and eager to talk to us. They loved seeing their pictures and wanted to know if they could get copies. We gave them some chocolates for their kids.
