We set sail from Vienna at about 3am on Tuesday morning. Our first stop was Melk to visit a baroque abbey built in the 1700s. The cool thing about the abbey is that it is a living abbey. One thing I've noticed about this part of Europe is that they mix old with new, baroque with modern very well. The figure 8 (infinity) bookshelf sits in the original abbey library amongst books that are centuries old. Where they are unable to restore original paintings, they paint new ones.
There was not much else in Melk. We stopped in an apothecary on the way back to the ship. I liked their tea section - a wall of silver tins.
